The attempt to create the biggest-ever pizza in the world got so much more media coverage than you can ever imagine. As a tribute to Roman emperor Octavian Augustus, the pizza was named “Ottavia.” Five chefs who are experts in cooking gluten-free came together for 48 hours to prepare this giant pizza.
Ottavia had a surface area of 1261.26 m² and the entire plan was executed on 13 Dec 2012 in Italy. In order to raise awareness of the celiac disease, the most common food intolerance in the world, the cooks decided to make Ottavia a gluten-free pizza.

Hundreds of pounds of cheese, flour, and tomato puree were utilized to make the pizza, and Ottavia still maintains the title of the biggest pizza in the world.
